Resources For Your Tween and Teen Girls

I have been blessed with three daughters and a son.

Each are unique in their own way but hold a common bond outside of their blood relationships. They all love the Lord.

I never had a struggle to explain our Christian faith to them. From early on they just knew. We established importance in our daily Bible reading, scripture discussion, and prayer time. We even prioritize Christian music over secular tunes.

What have dealt with a few times is how to stay strong in our walk when facing trials and secular society. Things we often discuss or think about are:

  • How do I fit in with Christian peers?

  • How do I fit in with secular peers?

  • What happens when I deal with trials in a not-so-Christian way?

  • What should I do when I have special needs and people patronize me?

  • Should I correct a non-believing family member?

  • Boys, who are they and why are they so weird? And... I may like one...

  • Purity and the non-Christian friendly way of looking at sexuality, what do I do?

Our number one resource outside of talking to Mom about these topics is the Bible. Wording may not be the same as modern thoughts, but it does give direction for all of life's questions.

2 Corinthians 3:17 ESV
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

After many years, we have come across several other resources that have been helpful in addressing some of these things. It's hard to fight against popular opinion these days, so arming ourselves with God's Word, prayer, discussion with other like-minded Christians, and reading books from authors who hold tight to the Bible is crucial.

Here is a list of several books that we have read and discussed over the years:

Before You Meet Prince Charming- a young lady's guide to "radiant purity."

This book also comes with a companion study guide found here.

A Girl After God's Own Heart- a great little book for girls to draw near to the Lord in their tween years

This book also has a companion devotional found here.

A Young Woman's Guide to Making Right Choices- living a life pleasing to the Lord while developing confidence in Him.

Hannah's One Wish- a girl's Bible study on Hannah, Samuel's mother from 1 Samuel and the adversity she pushed through.

Delight to be a Woman of God- a study for older teens on drawing near to God and addresses topics such as: acceptance, dating, God's will, and facing strongholds.

This book also has a companion journal found here.

Lies Girls Believe and the Truth That Sets Them Free- from bullying, social media standards, and peer pressure, girls deal with a lot and we encounter Biblical truths in this book that helps girls focus on what truly matters.

This book has an entire series with studies for girls, teens, and women.

I hope that you find some of these resources helpful and enjoyable for the girls in your life.
